ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX 2024
McLaren clinch up their 9th Constructor's World Championship after 26 years, first one to add to the closet after 1998,a well deserved one which now ties them with Williams for second place on number of constructor's championship since inception of F1. They won the championship via a dominating win by Lando Norris who was in the lead of the race from start to end and looked like the clear winner through and through. The last championship won by McLaren was before Oscar and Lando had even been born.
At the start of the race, Oscar was tagged on the rear by Max when he made an opportunistic move on him to get into P2 but it did not pan out the way it did putting Oscar right at the back of the field and Max also way down. This put the Constructor's title also a big task to get from an easy smooth sailing one as now all the pressure was laid on Lando and he sure as hell delivered with a supreme, dominating win.
Ferrari gave it their all with Charles going from P19 to P8 on lap one . Also Carlos was promoted to P2 due to the Oscar-Max collision and after a few laps and some awesome overtakes Charles was up to P3, it was at this point that the Constructor's looked possible for Ferrari only if they could overtake Lando or if McLaren made a mistake or even a Safety car would have worked in their favour. But all this was in vain, even after a supreme drive by both Scuderia drivers to finish P2 and P3, at the end as Lando held on to the lead. A sad ending for Ferrari even though this is their highest ever points total as they missed out on the constructors by only 14 points. It was even more sad for their drivers, with Carlos parting with the team making this his final race, in which both Charles and Carlos wanted to end their driver pairing at a high with the Constructor's world championship, but alas that did not happen.
Red Bull even though they won the Driver's Championship, but finished 3rd in the Constructor's due to the lack of pace shown by Sergio Perez all throughout the season. In the end finished he finished a whopping 285 points behind Max, disastrous to say the least. He finished P8 in the driver's championship, even behind both the Mercedes drivers by a big margin which speaks volumes. It should be quite obvious to Red Bull about what has to be done, which is what they have done to numerous drivers in the past, some even mid season. Is this Perez's last race because if Red Bull does so he will not have a drive for next year even though he has a contract.
Alpine took P6 in the Constructor's even after a disastrous start to the year due to their recent run of form especially the P2 and P3 in Sao Paolo. They had a brilliant turnover mid season which paid off in the end. Haas finished P7 in the constructor's after a hard fight from VCarb and Alpine. A good result from them after last season. Their driver's gave their all this season and scored a huge heap of points for them. This was the last ever race for both Nico and K-Mag at Haas. K-Mag is leaving F1 mostly forever after so many seasons! Also Franco Colapinto had to retire in his final race for Williams, an event which was sad for him and also the whole F1 community due to what he has done in the 9 races this season. Those 9 races were nothing short of stellar with wonderful performances at quite a few occasions.
At last let's talk about Mercedes and Hamilton.
It was their last race together. An end to the 12 seasons in which they won 6 driver's championships, 8 consecutive team constructor titles, 84 wins, 78 pole positions and 153 podiummssss!!!!
It started out as a leap of faith but turned a journey into the history books
as stated by Hamilton and rightfully so as this is the most successful driver team pairing ever in the history of F1. All those seasons were nothing short of spectacular even though the last few years were a bit tough. The journey they had together was nothing short of fabulous, a marvelous one to say the least. The Bono and Hamilton relationship is one to be cherished by the fans for a long time ahead. All the hammer time messages and the brilliant wins will be remembered by fans for eternity to come. It was truly an emotional time for the whole f1 community and especially Mercedes and LEWIS HAMILTON the greatest of all time, himself.
But all good things come to an END!!!!!!
